Participants who attend this training will explore the historical evolution of peer support services within behavioral health and the transformative role peer specialists play within agencies. Participants will review meaningful ways that peer specialists can provide support at various levels within an organization including sharing their stories to instill hope not just with the individuals they are supporting, but within agency culture as well. Participants will explore common concerns related to the peer specialist role and practice ways to address stigma when present in agency culture. Participants will be provided with a Recovery and Resiliency Scale to measure organizational attitudes and readiness as it relates to growing successful and supportive Peer Support programs within their organizations that truly honor the spirit of peer support work.
