Saturday, January 19th - Local Mental/Behavioral Health Boards Training: 9:30 am – 2:15 pm (Registration and coffee at 9:00 am)
Who should attend: Local behavioral health board/commission members and support staff from the region.
CIBHS will reimburse travel expenses for one member per local mental/behavioral health board/commission in the region, but more are welcome to attend. Please contact Gerilyn Walcott at gwalcott@cibhs.org to let us know who will be participating from your local Board or Commission.

"Responsibility and Reality: The Role of the Mental Health Board"
9:00 am - Registration and light continental breakfast
9:30 am - 11:30 am - Training, Part I
11:30 - 12:15 pm -- Lunch
12:15 pm - 2:15 pm-- Training, Part II
Participants will learn and discuss the roles and responsibilities of Local Behavioral Health Boards and Commission members, including: How to implement each responsibility and options available to meet those responsibilities; How to work with your Board of Supervisors and your County Behavioral Health system; Role of LBHBCs in the statewide Behavioral Health system; Ethics Training requirements; How to run a run and participate in a meeting that conforms to the requirements of the Brown Act; How to conduct board recruitment; Working together as a team;Organizing for advocacy; Engaging the underserved/underrepresented population;Statewide organizations and resources.
Additional training will be presented by CALBHBC:
2:30 pm: MHSA Community Program Planning – Ensuring Community Input, provided by Access CA (A Program of NorCal MHA)
Dinner will be provided.
6:30 pm Wrap-Up & Adjourn
Board/Commission members are also invited to attend the CA Behavioral Health Planning Council (CBHPC) General Session on Friday, January 18th, 2019, in the morning and/or the California Association of Local Behavioral Health Boards/Commissions (CALBHB/C) meeting on Friday afternoon.
