Saturday, April 21st - Local Mental/Behavioral Health Boards Training: 9:30 am – 3:00 pm (Registration and coffee at 9:00 am)
Who should attend: Local behavioral health board/commission members from the region.
CIBHS will reimburse travel expenses for one member per local mental/behavioral health board/commission in the region, but more are welcome to attend. Please contact Gerilyn Walcott at gwalcott@cibhs.org to let us know who will be participating from your local Board or Commission.
What jurisdictions are considered Bay Area Region: (13 jurisdictions) Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, Napa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, and City of Berkeley
Cost: Free (registration required)
Location: Pullman Hotel, 223 Twin Dolphin Drive, Redwood City, CA 94065. If you need overnight accommodations, please contact the Conference Department at CIBHS at conferences@cibhs.org by April 6th and we will coordinate that reservation for you.
"Behavioral Health Boards and Commissions 101" will be offered on Saturday, morning, 9:30am-noon. This training will provide 2 hours of discussion about the roles and responsibilities of mental/behavioral health board members. Board members will learn about the requirements for Ethics Training and about how to participate in a meeting that conforms to the requirements of the Brown Act. A training on"Advocacy for Issues" will be presented in the afternoon, from 1:00-3:00 pm. Board members will learn how to encourage consumer participation and how to focus on a particular issue of interest in the public arena. Board members should come prepared with their questions about board membership and be ready for a great discussion. Lunch will be provided.
Board/Commission members are also invited to attend the CA Behavioral Health Planning Council (CBHPC) General Session on Friday,April 20, 2018, in the morning and/or the California Association of Local Behavioral Health Boards/Commissions (CALBHB/C) meeting on Friday afternoon.
