Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Interventions for Adults: Effective Skills that Result in Improvement in Quality of Life

Trainer: Cindy Rollo, LCSW-C

Tuesday, April 29, 2025
9:00am to 12:00pm (PT)

A Live Virtual Training

Trauma can change the way you think about yourself, the world, and your relationship with others. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is easily accessible, time-limited, and has proven effectiveness for a wide range of common presenting issues. Yet, many clinicians are unsure how to best apply CBT techniques with those that have experienced trauma. With growing awareness of the prevalence and impact of trauma across populations, the need for trauma-informed CBT approaches is clear.

This three-hour live virtual interactive training is designed to meet this need for clinicians interested in utilizing CBT strategies in a person-centered, trauma-informed manner.

Target AudienceClinicians, counselors, case managers, therapists, social workers.

It will provide:

  • An overview of how the guiding principles of trauma-informed care can be used as a framework for approaching CBT with adults that have experienced trauma.
  • Strategies for creating safety with those who have experienced trauma so they can benefit from CBT.
  • Techniques for exploring unhelpful and inaccurate trauma-related thoughts.
  • Resources to support further development of trauma-informed CBT practices.

Why you should attend:

  • Human suffering in part is based on faulty and unhelpful ways of thinking and learned patterns of unhelpful behaviors. Do you want to guide and support your clients to gain a better understanding of faulty thinking, utilize problem solving skills to cope with difficulties, and develop a greater sense of confidence in facing daily struggles?

  • Do you wish to be more collaborative in joining your clients to understand the problems and develop a treatment strategy that is trauma-informed and grounded in evidence?

Learning Objectives:

  1. Explain two or more ways the guiding principles of trauma-informed care can be used as a framework for CBT in the clinical setting with adults who have experienced trauma.
  2. Articulate at least one or more strategies for creating safety for clients while using CBT in the clinical setting.
  3. Explain two or more techniques for exploring unhelpful and inaccurate trauma related thoughts when treating adults who have experienced trauma.

This training will be held via Zoom. The Zoom meeting link and materials will be emailed out to you the week prior to the training.
This experiential workshop will include vignettes and breakout rooms for enhanced learning experience. We'll enable cameras and microphones to facilitate group participation.
