Difficult conversations in the workplace are inevitable. There are many tools for having conversations about race and racism, and unfortunately for many individuals those tools are inaccessible when they become bio physiologically activated. Our fight, flight, or flee responses hijack us of the opportunity to become more aware, connect, and dialogue. Our best intentions fall short and many of us experience guilt, shame, anger, and discouragement during, and after talking about race. This webinar will focus on building practical skills to interrupt this dynamic process. Steps to manage one's emotions in difficult conversations on race, racism, and equity will be discussed in this session. Participants will also be invited to practice skills in the session and develop a self-regulation plan.

Learning Objectives

1. Participants will be able to describe difficult conversations about race, racism, and equity that emerge in the workplace
2. Participants will be able to consider the impact that difficult conversations about race, racism, and equity have on them
3. Participants will learn self-regulation strategies to calm themselves and  effectively respond when having difficult conversations instead of reacting from an activated state
