your framework, approach, assessment, and delivery of care. But how?
The Healing-Centered Care that highlights transparency and client choice and voice training will be conducted by Cindy Rollo, MSW, LCSW-C an accomplished trainer, consultant, supervisor, and clinician. Cindy has been
involved in bringing trauma-informed trainings and system change to mental
health professionals, administrators, graduate students, child welfare workers,
case managers and support staff who provide care in a range of community and
residential settings serving diverse populations.
Over the last 20 years, Cindy has provided psychotherapy to Baltimore, Maryland underserved
youth and their families that are living in the context of urban poverty and
ongoing trauma exposure. She is also a national
trainer for Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy (TF-CBT) and co-developed a graduate level course on
Evidence-Based Mental Health Treatment with Children and Adolescents.

us walk you through the specifics of how to bring a trauma-informed
approach to your practice. National trainer and consultant Cindy Rollo,
LCSW-C will provide the basics of trauma-informed care, screening and
assessment, treatment planning, and clinician vicarious trauma.
Join us for three sessions of experiential learning in the world of trauma-informed care:
- July 12, 2022: What is trauma-informed care? A definition of trauma and contextual contributing factors
- July 13, 2022: How do you screen? Assessment and Screening Tools and considerations
- July 14, 2022: How do you practice what you preach? Treatment approaches and strategies
All
three days include vignettes and breakout rooms to create a learning
environment that lends itself to immediate take-aways for your practice.
Objectives:
Participants are able to:
1. Recognize five or more common signs and symptoms of trauma to improve
identification of PTSD among clients in health care and behavioral health care
settings.
2. Articulate six or more strategies for addressing physical and emotional safety
concerns among clients who have experienced trauma to create a space for
healing.
3. Demonstrate two or more techniques
for incorporating cultural humility into
trauma-informed care to improve the therapeutic relationship.
4. Articulate three or more critical
components of trauma-informed screening and assessment for recognizing trauma
exposure among clients and identifying treatment needs.
5. Describe the key
characteristics of at least one trauma screening tool and discuss its appropriateness
for use in their clinical setting.
6. Demonstrate at least one skill
for conducting screening and assessment in a trauma-informed manner to reduce
re-traumatization among clients with a history of trauma.
7. Articulate at least
one policy or procedural change at the organizational level to minimize the
risk of re-traumatization among clients with a history of trauma.
8. Discuss one or more techniques
for promoting client voice and choice when working with clients who have
experienced trauma.
9. List
at least 10 skills that reflect trauma-informed care to support healing among clients
with a history of trauma.
Approval for 8.25 credits.
