Event Description:

CIBHS is proud to announce a new 3-part webinar series Critical Conversations for 2022 that continues the discussions started in response to racial inequities in the U.S., and how those inequities serve to negatively affect underserved and marginalized members of society as it relates to both mental and medical health equity.

Trauma Informed and Trauma Focus Interventions Using Telehealth with Children, Adolescents and their Families Training Summary and Educational Goals

Ritchie Rubio, PhD. in Clinical Psychology

March 17, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Target Audience

Behavioral health care leadership, administrators and managers, ethnic services managers, peer professionals, clinical supervisors, clinicians/direct care providers, and care managers

The cost is $70 (includes CEs) per webinar. Please note the training is limited to 100 registrants. You will be sent the link to register for your zoom log in a week before the training .

The goal of this training is for participants to distinguish among some of the most commonly used and evidence-based trauma-focused interventions in working with children and adolescent clients who present with acute, chronic, or complex trauma.

The training will primarily expand the participants' skills on telehealth adaptations, in conjunction with in-person work, of trauma-focused and trauma-informed interventions in working with children and adolescent clients. Given the context of inequities in the use of telehealth and the digital divide, this training will also integrate telehealth adaptations of some culturally-adapted trauma-focused interventions in working with Black,Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) clients.

Finally, the training will culminatein the participants' development of a tentative plan on how to implement trauma-focused telehealth tools in their individual clinical practice and/or behavioral health programs.

Learning Objectives

As a result of attending this webinar, participants will be able to:

1.       Participants will be able to identify and describe at least two clinical considerations for improving telehealth benefits when working with clients exposed to trauma and/or experiencing ongoing trauma.

2.       Participants will be able to apply at least two core elements of trauma-focused interventions when using telehealth to increase engagement among behavioral health clients.

3.       Participants will be able to illustrate at least two ways of addressing telehealth inequities and culturally-adapting trauma-focused interventions to improve behavioral health care when working with BIPOC clients.
