Motivational Interviewing Competency Assessment (MICA)Coding and Coaching Workshop

Does the communication method of a practitioner demonstratea level of competence representative of Motivational Interviewing (MI)? TheMotivational Interviewing Competency Assessment (MICA) addresses this questionin a way that upholds integrity to the intent of MI by drawing upon a varietyof evidence-informed and evidence-based tools, theories, and practices. Thisfast-paced and interactive workshop will introduce participants to coding andcoaching using the MICA.

The MICA can be used to evaluate a sample of a practitioner'sclinical conversation to assess baseline competence in MI from a qualityassurance perspective. In addition, the MICA can be used to provide a qualityimprovement process for practitioners who want to move from a competent use ofMI to a more proficient application of MI intentions and skills. The MICAprovides helping professionals with easily digestible, structured, and specificfeedback to shape and enhance their efforts to use MI with their clients.

April 6 & 7, 2016

9 AM to 4:00 PM – 8:30 registration

$400.00 for both days, and includes CE credits. Attendees are required to attend both days.

Psychologists - APA :  CIBHS is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuingeducation for psychologists.  CIBHS maintains responsibility for thisprogram and its content.

 

RN, PT Credit:  CIBHS is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP 11779  for 12 contact hours.

 

MFT, LPCC, LEP and/or LCSW Credit:  CIBHS is an approved provider for the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (PCE 2617).  Course meets the qualifications for 12 continuing education credit for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

 

CCAPP: CIBHS is an approved provider for California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP) continuing education units (Provider number 5-98-408-0816).
